I am thinking of doing a documentary based
around a girl and horse riding. It will meet the brief by containing a range of
camera shots, for example I have the intentions to use wide shots of them
galloping through the fields, extreme close ups of the horses facial features
like the eye, and many mid shots like when interviewing. The editing in the
opening sequence will not be too fast paced, but I also do not want it too slow
either so that it can keep the target audience of 16-25 year old engaged and
wanting to watch more. In terms of sound, I will also have a voiceover,
especially in times of emotional climax, along with soft and slow music. The
mise-en-scène will vary with footage in a field, stables, at home, car, in a ménage,
and more. I will also include different social groups of age with a possible
interview with the riding coach, and gender and race. For graphics possibly
after around 30 seconds or a minute of introduction will be the name of the
documentary.
The audience will engage with this
documentary through use of different platforms being encouraged – for example
linking social media pages. The main subject is a teenage girl – who a lot of
the audience might find ways to relate to, and even be inspired by. Also,
having the subject linking to sports and animals, might extend the audience
further – as well as hopefully being intriguing to the primary target audience.
I will use digital convergence within my
product through linking both the documentary and the website together, as well
as different platforms such as social medias. At the end of the documentary I will
leave a link for both the documentary’s own website, and the BBC 3 website. I
will also leave the social media accounts for the people featured.
